Mechanism
Pulled from gastric juice protein, of all places. The proposed mechanisms read like a repair crew: growth factor receptors waking up (EGF, VEGF), nitric oxide getting involved, tendon and ligament fibroblasts getting the signal to work. Proposed is the key word here. Nobody has nailed down the exact human mechanism yet.
Key Benefit
Extensive animal data showing accelerated healing of tendons, ligaments, muscle, gut mucosa, and bone. No completed human RCTs.
Evidence Base
Over 100 animal studies, across every injury model you can think of. Rodents show it works both oral and injectable. Humans? One single phase I safety study. That is the entire human file, so far.
Route & Rationale
Subcutaneous injection or oral. Unusual stability for a peptide. Shows oral bioactivity in animal models. SC provides more reliable systemic exposure. Injection near injury site is common protocol.
Interactions
No known drug interactions in published literature. Theoretical concern with anticoagulants (angiogenesis effect).
Regulatory Status
Not FDA-approved. It got removed from the FDA's Category 2 list in April 2026, and now it's waiting on a PCAC review in July 2026 to see if it can qualify for 503A compounding. WADA has it on the prohibited list.
