Vitamin C Antioxidant Serum

Vitamin C, usually L-ascorbic acid, goes after the free radicals that UV and pollution throw at your skin all day and neutralizes them on the spot. It is also a required cofactor, not a nice-to-have, for the enzymes that build collagen. On top of that, it interrupts excess melanin production, which is the reason consistent use gradually brightens tone and fades dark spots. One ingredient, three jobs.

Why it works

Topical vitamin C is one of the most studied antioxidants in all of skincare, and human trials back it: better brightness, more even tone, real photoprotection when it is working alongside your sunscreen, not instead of it. Results are gradual, weeks into months, not overnight. And here's the part the percentage on the label will not tell you: formula stability matters just as much as concentration. A high number in an unstable bottle is not doing you any favors.

How to use it

  1. Morning application, clean dry skin, right after cleansing.
  2. Press a few drops gently over your face and neck.
  3. Let it settle in, then layer moisturizer and sunscreen on top, in that order.
  4. Skin stings or flushes easily? Introduce it slowly.
  5. Store it away from heat and light. Turns deep orange or brown? Toss it, no second-guessing.

In the morning after cleansing, apply a few drops to clean, dry skin, pressing gently over the face and neck before moisturizer and sunscreen. It layers under and boosts the protection of your SPF rather than replacing it.

For men: Wait until shaving has fully calmed down before this goes on, never straight onto a raw nick. Ascorbic acid on broken skin stings, and not in a good way. On a shave day, give it a few minutes to settle before your SPF goes on top.

⚠ Introduce slowly if your skin is sensitive, since higher-strength ascorbic acid can sting or cause temporary flushing; a lower concentration or a gentler derivative may suit reactive skin. Store away from heat and light, and discard if it turns deep orange or brown. This is educational information for discussion with a clinician, not medical advice.
